Parents, as much as we love going on holiday, we know how troublesome it can be to plan one. (yes, it isn’t a fun task for some of us). So, in public interest, I am doing a roundup of all the fun and different things one can do with their children in Dubai. Hoping to make your life that tad bit easier, trust me, I know the difference it can make.

Dubai is actually pretty child-friendly. No wonder its increase in popularity as a family holiday destination, I mean with the year-round sunshine, beaches and so many thought out activities for children, what’s not to love?! Over the years, Dubai has really grown from being a desert to a major spot for tourism in the UAE. It’s probably safe to say that almost all of us will have someone we know that resides there. This only goes on to highlight how Dubai has embraced everyone because there is literally something to do for every single person.

From the shopping malls to many children’s activities, the stunning hotels, food options and constant rise in entertainment for locals and tourists. I was lucky enough to enjoy a family holiday in Dubai and that’s where the inspiration for the Little Travel Bug Dubai Scrapbook came from. Find below my top suggestions for the top 10 places to must-visit with your children when you visit next. I hope you have a great holiday!

1. KidZania Dubai

This one is located in the Dubai mall and suitable for kids between the ages of 1 to 16 years.

This one is known for roleplay! Children have the opportunity to choose from over 80 professions and keep themselves entertained, whilst learning for hours. From doctor to fireman, baker, pilot, postman, and many, many more. Your child will refuse to leave (trust me).

There is also a toddler area for the younger ones. This fascinating place even allows your children to get paid in KidZos – the more you work, the more you get paid, just like real life.

KidZania gives your child the opportunity to explore, learn and interact with others in one safe space.

2. The Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo

Again situated in Dubai Mall, this one is unmissable as it is the largest indoor aquarium in the world. It is one of the most captivating attractions in Dubai. You can watch this from the outside whilst walking around Dubai mall or pay and enter to show your kids all there is.

One can even snorkel or shark dive. They also offer a glass-bottom boat experience to enjoy it in its full entirety. They have sharks, frogs and other exotic sea-animals and offer a memorable journey into ocean life.

The zoo offers a chance to come up-close with penguins, piranhas, crabs, seahorses and plenty more.

3. Dubai Bus Tour

A hop on and hop off in any city, I would always recommend – its a good way to explore the city in an overview and then zero in on the places you want to spend some time at. It also gives you a chance to learn so much about the culture of a place and its people.

I’d recommend doing this earlier on in your trip to better understand how to manage your time. They also offer a night tour option now and you can pick between 3 routes.

4. Desert Activities

If you haven’t done it before, you must try to fit this in your schedule. It offers camel riding, dune buggies and a desert safari. There’s also the Camel Farm where they offer 30 minute or 1-hour rides around the desert.

FYI: Please make sure no one with any level of nausea participates in these because take it from personal experience, it does not end well.

5. Atlantis Aquaventure Park

Situated on the Atlantis in Palm Jumeirah, this waterpark is nothing like you have seen before. It has been designed in a way that you can shuffle between rides whilst staying in water throughout. This is so good for the kids as the in and out in the sun can cause allergies for some.

There’s also a wave pool for those that want to enjoy it and with sun-beds spread across. The park offers 30 kinds of slides, a lazy river and a private beach. Animal lovers, you can get close with dolphins, sea lions, sharks and stingrays too.

6. Ski Dubai

This indoor skiing spot in the Mall of Emirates is a big hit with families. You can either book a ski lesson or take on the slopes if you are an experienced skier. It also has a theatre screening family-oriented films, an ice bar that serves hot chocolate and a snow-caravan for interactive experiences.

There’s also a personal penguin experience for 40-minutes. For which you have to put on a thermal suit to enter the area where the resident penguins are and you can watch them from a certain spot. You also have a chance to watch a documentary on them.

7. Legoland Dubai

The first one in the Middle East and 7th in the world, Legoland is a family theme park. The perfect adventure park for children aged 2-12 years. This one has 40 themed rides and 6 themed lands/zones. It even has the first-ever indoor Miniland – an interactive arena in which the prime buildings of Dubai have been recreated using Legos. Fun fact: 60 million lego bricks have been used in this particular chapter of Legoland.

8. Legoland Water Park

Cool off at Legoland Waterpark in Dubai which is unique and specially designed for children between 2-12 years. It offers 20 water slides and attractions for families. You can also build your very own Lego Raft, how cool is that?! There is also a wave pool to enjoy some downtime with the little ones.

9. Children’s City Museum

For children between the ages of 2 to 15 years, this museum is located at Al Jadaf and is an educational city. Don’t worry parents, it even caters to you. They have daily shows, workshops and events. In fact, I’d recommend visiting this in the afternoon peak heat time when you cannot be outdoors as this is located inside.

10. Ice skating

What doesn’t the Dubai mall have? There’s also an ice-skating rink located inside it. You can either choose to watch an event there, book a lesson or a 2-hour slot for yourself. No matter the heat in Dubai, there are always activities to break away from it.

11. Dubai Miracle Garden

100 million blooming flowers yes, this is the world’s biggest nature garden. It is one of a kind and has a unique display. There’s also a butterfly garden which my younger one adored. This is open daily from 9 am onwards. Nature lovers, there are so many recreational spots for you, it is extremely relaxing.
